What Is Your Response? Moments with God, Vol. 14

Creation, God’s creation, how I love to be in it. I love going for walks through the fields and woods. I love to see deer, squirrels, minx, raccoon, ducks, geese, turtles. You get the gist. I love everything about it. I listen and hear the birds sing, knowing they are giving praise to our Lord. I love each season, especially the spring as trees and flowers bud and bloom. Everything wakes up to new life. I love summer and the different flowers and growth I see, the warmth of the sunshine, the blue of the sky. I love the fall and the amazing colors, the crispness of the air. I love the winter and the beauty of the gently falling snow. God created and established it. He is over all of it, and creation responds to Him.

1 Chronicles 16:31-33 depicts this. “Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!” Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.” All creation acknowledges the Creator.

Creation even reacted when our Savior gave His life for us on the cross as seen in Luke 23:44-45. “It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun’s light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.” Tony Evans in The Tony Evans Bible Commentary explains, “It wasn’t possible for the Son of God to be rejected and killed without it causing an ominous reaction from his creation.” All of creation knows its Creator. Paul explains in Romans 8 how creation is under bondage to corruption and is groaning because of the sin in our world.

Which takes me to our response. We as human beings are made in the image of God. How do we respond to our Creator? How do I respond to my Creator? Am I in awe of Him? Does His work that I see cause me to look to Him, to acknowledge Him, to worship Him? Does the work that you see cause you to see Him, to worship Him?

David reminds us of our Creator in Psalm 95:1-7, “Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.” David invites us to sing praise to the Lord and worship Him. Kneel down before Him and acknowledge that He is God. All creation praises the Creator. We are because of Him. Shouldn’t His image-bearers have more reason to praise? Pause for a moment and realize how amazing you are because of Him…and give praise!

In His Love,

Susan
