Abide Moments with God, Vol. 80
Abide
To abide in the Lord means to stay or remain in Him. God is always with me. He has promised never to leave me or forsake me, but sometimes I leave Him. He is right with me, but sometimes I set Him aside so I can try to figure it out and help people make the right choices. I take upon myself tasks and choices I am not meant to take, and I leave Jesus waiting in a corner for me to draw back near to Him and abide. So, as I spend some time reigning it in and allowing the Lord to smooth over some rough waters in my soul, I will just share some verses with you that bring comfort to my heart and help me come back to the place of abiding with Him.
If you have ever been in this place, or if you are there now, leave it with God, and find your ways to help you abide with Him. He is waiting. My prayer is that these verses will encourage you in whatever situation you are in. God never meant for us to walk this life alone. He made us to need Him. Seek Him today and find ways to help you abide.
“I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love, because you have seen my affliction; you have known the distress of my soul, and you have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy; you have set my feet in a broad place. Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief; my soul and my body also. For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away…But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors! Make your face shine on your servant; save me in your steadfast love!…Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!” (Psalm 31:7-10, 14-16, 24)
“But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.” (Psalm 86:15)
“If the Lord had not been my help, my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence. When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.” (Psalm 94:17-19)
“Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.” (Psalm 143:8)
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” (Isaiah 26:3-4)
“Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. For a people shall dwell in Zion, in Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. As soon as he hears it, he answers you. And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” (Isaiah 30:18-21)
In His Love,
